RACE = Attitude

Sermon by Mr. Mthembu

God is everywhere.

Psalm 106
1 Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

2 Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare his praise?

12 Then they believed his promises and sang his praise.

13 But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his counsel.

14 In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wasteland they put God to the test.

15 So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease upon them.

When I look back I always praise God. It is a pity that at times we always forget where we come from. We know that the flesh is fighting against the spirit.

I always say to my wife, the way to success is not paved by flowers and lilies, but by bottles and thorns.

Philippians 2
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!

· Jesus humbled himself and became like an ordinary person.
· He came down and humbled himself and He was obidient.
· We are in a race. We are all focussing at reaching a certain destination; to reach heaven.
· Jesus changed from being God to man.

We need to deal with our attitudes.

RACE
R = Responsibilty (Christians are always running away from responsibilities. We need to develop and be responsible.)

A = Accountable, Romans 3
19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

C = Commitment, Acts 20
32"Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

E = Endurance, Romans 15
5May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

We must always be coscious of what we do, so that we may not go astray. It is not easy, but we need to endure.
